Russian forces seize Aniskino settlement in Ukraine's Kharkiv region
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces have taken control of the Aniskino settlement in Ukraine's Kharkiv region. The statement said the capture was part of a series of offensive actions by the Northern battlegroup during the week of 1‑7 August, which also secured the villages of Bakshéevka, Beli Kolódez, Olgovka, Ustínovka, Rizhevka, Liubítskoe and Zarnitsa.
Russian reports estimate Ukrainian losses in the same period at more than 7,960 personnel, including over 9,500 soldiers killed. Ukrainian equipment losses were listed as two tanks, 80 armored combat vehicles, 563 cars, 61 artillery pieces and 40 electronic‑warfare stations. Russian forces also claimed to have downed 91 guided aerial bombs, 11 HIMARS rockets and 6,575 drones.
The ministry added that the Eastern, Central, Western, Southern and Dnieper Russian groups accounted for 2,505; 2,375; 1,495; 1,335 and up to 250 Ukrainian casualties respectively. The liberation of Aniskino expands the Russian bridgehead, allowing further advances toward Kupino and potentially encircling Ukrainian troops in the area.
