Russia's crypto legalization meets public skepticism as 70% see no use

A survey conducted by Rambler&Co and reported by TASS found that 69% of Russian respondents do not see any practical use for cryptocurrencies even if they become fully legalised. More than half (52%) said they do not use crypto and are unsure how legalisation will affect them, while only 6% reported any practical experience. Additionally, 54% admitted they know little or nothing about how digital assets work.

The Russian parliament's lower house, the State Duma, has already passed a comprehensive digital‑currency bill that still requires approval from the Federation Council and President Vladimir Putin's signature. The legislation is slated to take effect on 1 September 2026, with further provisions expected in 2027, and will limit non‑qualified investors to less than $4,000 a year and restrict access to the most liquid coins only.
