Russia's glide‑bomb campaign in Ukraine reaches record levels

In July, the Russian armed forces launched more than 8,300 glide‑bombs (KAB) against Ukraine, the highest monthly total since the full‑scale invasion began and surpassing June's 8,266 strikes. The attacks targeted a wide array of Ukrainian assets, including transport, fuel and energy infrastructure, drone‑assembly sites, armored vehicles, a tank, and a ship in the Black Sea.

Ukrainian defence officials reported that the bombardment resulted in over 1,430 Ukrainian soldiers killed or seriously wounded. Civilian casualties were also recorded, with two civilians killed and four injured in the Russian‑occupied Luhansk region during the same period.

Russian officials highlighted specific incidents: Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air‑defence forces shot down 11 drones heading toward the capital, and Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozsev described a Russian soldier opening fire on three civilians in Hmelnytskyi, causing injuries.
