Russia's State Duma elections grant United Russia constitutional majority

The Russian Federation held elections for the State Duma between September 18 and 20, 2026. These represent the first legislative elections conducted following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Official results from the Central Election Commission indicate that the United Russia party secured a constitutional majority with 349 mandates. Other parties receiving seats include the Communist Party (KPRF) with 37, the LDPR with 23, New People with 19, and A Just Russia with 17. One mandate was awarded to Rodina, and four were won by independent candidates.

The elections were marked by a lack of independent international oversight. The OSCE announced in August 2026 that Russia did not invite OSCE/ODIHR observers, following a pattern observed during the 2021 parliamentary and 2024 presidential elections. Concerns have been raised regarding the restricted political competition and limitations on freedom of expression, association, and the press.
