Russo Brothers tease Hulk's involvement in Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday Marvel Cinematic Universe Russo Brothers Doctor Doom Multiverse

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have provided new details regarding the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. While they declined to officially confirm Mark Ruffalo’s return as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Joe Russo stated that Banner is “certainly involved in the story that revolves around Doom.”

New footage featured in the ‘Avengers: Endgame: Encore’ re-release shows a post-credits encounter where Doctor Doom appears to confront Banner in a secure military bunker. The directors suggested that Doom’s interests may extend to other unannounced characters beyond just the Hulk.

Additionally, the filmmakers addressed the multiversal crisis depicted in the ‘Encore’ footage, where the Time Variance Authority (TVA) witnesses the collapse of thousands of universes. Joe Russo described this multiversal decay as “the most profound thing that's ever happened to the MCU,” characterizing it as a perceived “end of times.”

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, and is expected to feature characters from various Marvel properties, including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Thunderbolts.
