Rustini Muhaimin Iskandar encourages children affected by forest fires to keep learning

Rustini Muhaimin Iskandar, founder of Jendela Dunia Kita, visited children in Batakan Village, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan, who have been impacted by forest and land fires (karhutla). During her visit, she encouraged the children to maintain their enthusiasm for learning and reading despite the disruptions caused by the fires.

She emphasized that reading should be an enjoyable activity rather than a burden, suggesting that children start with short stories, comics, or books that match their interests. Rustini highlighted the importance of books as a window to the world and urged children to continue dreaming big regardless of their current circumstances.

Separately, the Inter-faith Climate Action Joint Secretariat has called for immediate health protections for citizens facing smoke exposure. The group urged authorities to provide medical assistance, clean water, and air quality information without waiting for an official emergency status to be declared, noting the high number of acute respiratory infections reported in the region.
