Ruta 5: UCR files injunction to demand highway conversion

The Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) has filed a legal injunction to demand the transformation of National Route 5 into a highway. This judicial action aims to force the state to establish concrete obligations and deadlines for infrastructure improvements to ensure road safety along this strategic corridor in western Buenos Aires province.

During a gathering in 9 de Julio, UCR leaders including National Committee President Leonel Chiarella and Buenos Aires provincial leader Emiliano Balbín joined local officials, such as Trenque Lauquen Mayor Francisco Recoulat, to advocate for the resumption of works. The movement seeks to address long-standing demands from local communities and productive sectors regarding the route's current condition.

In a related demonstration, residents of Beruti protested at a toll booth on Route 5. The community is demanding free passage within their district and expressing grievances against the current concessionaire, citing a lack of respect for previous agreements and the negative impact the toll has on local connectivity for work, social, and health reasons.
