Penn State Athletics suffers dual losses in hockey and men's soccer

Penn State's athletic programs faced significant setbacks on Tuesday, losing both men's hockey and men's soccer matchups.

In men's hockey, Robert Morris defeated Penn State 5-2 at Pegula Ice Arena. The Colonials established an early lead with a goal just 20 seconds into the contest and extended it to 3-0 by the end of the first period. Despite a second-period push by the Nittany Lions, including a goal by Justin Poirier, Robert Morris goaltender Lucas Massie secured the victory. This loss extends Penn State's season-opening losing streak to four games.

In men's soccer, Rutgers secured a 5-0 shutout victory over Penn State at Jeffrey Field. The Scarlet Knights dominated the early stages of the match, scoring three goals within the first 20 minutes. Dan Karsten and Francesco Di Ponzio both found the net early, followed by a goal from William Pierce. Rutgers added two more second-half goals from Thomas Angelone and Nick Collins to complete the rout. The defeat leaves Penn State without a conference win this season.
