Rutronik Stars Keltern prepare for DBBL season opener

The Rutronik Stars Keltern are set to begin their 2026/2027 1. DBBL season this Sunday against the Eigner Angels Nördlingen. Following five previous German championships, the team aims to maintain its competitive edge despite a challenging preseason.

The team faces significant personnel challenges heading into the opener. New signing Freja Werth is sidelined due to a knee injury, a situation that could potentially end her season prematurely due to underlying issues. With only ten available players, the club is actively searching the transfer market for reinforcements to manage the long season.

On a positive note, the team has secured US guard Essence Booker to bolster their scoring capabilities. Head coach Matea Tavic and the management are looking for a significant performance increase compared to their recent narrow victory in a preseason test match.
