RuView open-source project uses Wi-Fi signals to detect movement
RuView is an open-source project that utilizes Wi-Fi signals to detect presence, movement, and vital signs without the need for cameras or wearable devices. By analyzing Channel State Information (CSI), the system measures how radio waves from a Wi-Fi router are disturbed by human activity, such as movement or breathing.
Using low-cost ESP32-based sensors, the technology can track room occupancy, monitor entries and exits, and recognize specific actions like walking, sitting, or falling. The project also includes experiments in body posture identification and the extraction of respiratory and heart rate patterns, even during sleep.
While the project has gained significant attention on GitHub, it remains in development. Its capabilities should not currently be viewed as equivalent to certified medical devices or fully consumer-ready home technology.
