Ruvo di Puglia reopens Domenico Cantatore Contemporary Art Gallery

The Pinacoteca Civica d’Arte Contemporanea ‘Domenico Cantatore’ in Ruvo di Puglia is reopening to the public following restoration and reorganization of the former Dominican convent. The reopening event, titled ‘Bentornato, Maestro’, features a new exhibition of works by the 20th-century Italian painter Domenico Cantatore, known for his Mediterranean-inspired landscapes and figures.

The collection includes a recent acquisition, the 1924 painting ‘Ritratto del piccolo Raffele Di Bitonto’, donated in 2024. The ceremony includes institutional greetings from Mayor Pasquale Roberto Chieco and Pro Loco UNPLI Ruvo di Puglia President Rocco Lauciello, with the presentation led by Francesco Picca, the new director of the Ruvo di Puglia Museum System. The reopening aims to revitalize the city's cultural identity and provide new spaces for artistic engagement.
