Ruy Castro presents new music series on Rádio MEC
Rádio MEC is launching a new original series titled ‘Eu Gosto de Música’, presented by journalist and writer Ruy Castro. Inspired by the author's most recent book, the production consists of four episodes exploring the history and personalities of samba, carnival, bossa nova, and jazz.
The series will air on Rádio MEC on Sundays at 21:00, with subsequent broadcasts on Rádio Nacional on Mondays at 22:00. Produced by Ruy Castro, Heloisa Seixas, and Julia Romeu, with support from Companhia das Letras, the program aims to provide historical and biographical context for these musical genres.
The debut episode, ‘Eu Gosto de Samba’, features Castro sharing personal anecdotes, such as living near Zé Kéti in Rio de Janeiro in 1968. The episode highlights figures like Wilson Baptista and Hermínio Bello de Carvalho, featuring musical works by artists including Elza Soares, Gal Costa, and Chico Buarque.
