Ruy de Carvalho receives Lisbon Medal of Honor
The Lisbon City Council has awarded the Medal of Honor of the City to actor Ruy de Carvalho in recognition of his exceptional artistic career and deep connection to the city. The 99-year-old actor, born in Lisbon in 1927, was honored by Mayor Carlos Moedas during a ceremony attended by his children.
De Carvalho’s career spans nearly a century, beginning in theater in 1942. He founded the Teatro Moderno de Lisboa in 1961, a pioneering independent theater structure, and has made significant contributions to radio, television, and cinema. During the ceremony, Mayor Moedas praised the actor for his discipline, dedication, and role in the collective memory of the city.
