R+V Versicherung halts sale of Condor Leben to Acathia Capital
German cooperative insurer R+V Versicherung announced it has stopped the planned sale of its life‑insurance subsidiary Condor Leben to Frankfurt‑based investment firm Acathia Capital. The deal, which was expected to close in the second or third quarter of 2026, was cancelled without explanation.
Around 219,000 policyholders of Condor Leben – covering classic life policies, unit‑linked retirement plans, occupational pension contracts and disability insurance – will keep their contracts with R+V. The insurer said the contracts will be managed internally. Under German law, such run‑off transactions require approval from the financial regulator BaFin, which has not been granted.
For customers, the cancellation means no immediate change in their insurer or contract terms.
