Rwanda agricultural exports reach record $1.1 billion
Rwanda’s agricultural export revenue reached a record $1.1 billion during the 2025/2026 fiscal year, marking the first time the sector has surpassed the billion-dollar threshold. This represents a 24% increase from the $893.16 million recorded in the previous year.
The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) attributed this growth to improved export infrastructure, enhanced traceability, and better compliance with international quality and safety standards. Key investments include the Specialized Export Quality Infrastructure (SEQI) and horticulture pack house facilities designed to reduce post-harvest losses and maintain product quality.
Market diversification and the promotion of traditional exports, such as coffee, tea, and horticultural products, have also played significant roles. This milestone brings Rwanda closer to its Fifth Strategic Plan for Agriculture Transformation (PSTA 5) goal of generating more than $1.5 billion in agricultural export revenue by 2028/2029.
