Rwanda and Morocco partner to support children with hearing impairments

The First Lady of Rwanda, Jeannette Kagame, and Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, have established a partnership to enhance medico-humanitarian cooperation between Rwanda and Morocco.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and the Imbuto Foundation in Kigali. This agreement aims to strengthen skill transfers and support for children with hearing impairments. As part of this collaboration, a new auditory diagnostic and rehabilitation center was inaugurated to provide specialized care, rehabilitation, and long-term support for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families.

Rwanda becomes the 23rd country to join the ‘United, we hear better’ program, which operates across Africa, the MENA region, and Latin America. The initiative, led by the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, has supported nearly 500 patients to date. The partnership leverages the Moroccan model, which provides comprehensive care ranging from newborn testing to employment assistance.
