Rwanda implements digital intelligence center and infrastructure upgrades to improve education
Rwanda is advancing its education sector through a dual approach of digital transformation and physical infrastructure development. The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) is developing a digital Education Intelligence Center to centralize data on students, teachers, schools, and learning materials. This platform aims to provide evidence-based insights to identify students at risk of dropping out, detect teacher shortages, and address overcrowded classrooms.
In tandem with these digital efforts, the Rwandan government and UNICEF have completed 313 new classrooms and 324 toilet facilities across all 30 districts during the 2025–2026 period. Funded by the Rwanda System Transformation Grant (STG), these improvements aim to replace aging structures and reduce pupil density. In some districts, new facilities have successfully reduced classroom sizes from approximately 50 students down to between 30 and 35, creating safer and more conducive learning environments.
