RWDM Brussels faces name change and match scheduling updates
The Belgian football club RWDM Brussels is undergoing significant organizational and logistical changes. The club is currently in the process of officially reverting its name to 'RWDM' through a federation application. This marks the third name change in approximately 16 months, following previous iterations such as 'Daring Brussels'. According to COO Bernard Stas, the change is expected to be effective in November.
Separately, the upcoming Eerste Nationale match between SL16 and RWDM Brussels will proceed with spectators. Liège Mayor Willy Demeyer had initially ordered the match to be played behind closed doors due to security concerns and insufficient infrastructure at SL16 to accommodate visiting fans. However, following discussions with the RWDM supporters' federation, which committed to managing the travel of its members, the mayor reversed the decision.
