RWE increases stake in Amprion to 58 percent

German energy company RWE has increased its stake in the transmission system operator Amprion to approximately 58 percent. This was achieved through the acquisition of an additional 3 percent stake from the investment company M31.

By increasing its holding via M31, RWE has become the majority owner of M31, which holds roughly three-quarters of the shares in Amprion. This follows a previous increase in June, which had raised RWE's stake to 55 percent.

The acquisition is part of RWE's strategy to strengthen its position in the regulated grid business, complementing its existing investments in renewable energy, battery storage, and flexible power generation. Amprion operates a significant portion of Germany's high-voltage electricity transmission network, playing a critical role in national energy security and the ongoing energy transition.
