Ryan family acquires Royal Oak Hotel for $100 million
The Ryan family, a multi-generational group of hotel operators, has acquired the landmark Royal Oak Hotel in Double Bay for approximately $100 million in an off-market transaction.
The hotel has been owned by the Malouf family through the Royal Hotels Group since 2011. Following a major renovation in 2015, the venue remains one of Australia’s most recognizable hospitality locations. Ed Malouf expressed support for the transition, noting the Ryans are “astute hotel operators in the pub industry.”
The acquisition occurs amid significant development in the Double Bay precinct, which is seeing substantial investment in high-end residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. This includes major works by Fortis, Rebel Property Group, and RH Galleries, which is establishing its first Australian outlet in the area.
