Ryan Fox to compete in Australian Open at Kingston Heath
New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox, the reigning British Open champion, has confirmed his participation in the Australian Open this December at Kingston Heath. Fox aims to become the first New Zealander to win the Stonehaven Cup, a feat no Kiwi has achieved since the tournament's inception in 1904.
Fox will join US Masters champion Rory McIlroy at the event. This marks the first time the current titleholders of The Open and the US Masters will compete in the same Australian Open since Gary Player in 1974. If successful, Fox will also be the first Open champion to win the Australian Open in the same calendar year since Bill Rogers in 1981.
The tournament has recently aligned with the PGA Tour and offers exemptions for the Masters and the British Open. Fox expressed high regard for the Kingston Heath course, describing it as one of his favorite sandbelt courses.
