Ryan Garcia and Jack Catterall trade insults over Devin Haney fight

A verbal dispute has erupted between boxers Ryan Garcia and Jack Catterall following Catterall’s public comments regarding Garcia’s previous fight with Devin Haney. Catterall, the WBA regular welterweight champion, labeled Garcia a “drug cheat” on social media, noting that Haney remains undefeated in his eyes because his only loss was to Garcia, whose victory was overturned to a no-contest due to positive ostarine tests.

Catterall used the opportunity to advocate for a matchup between himself and Haney, urging the platform DAZN to promote the fight. Garcia responded with personal insults, defending himself by claiming the substance found in his system provided no competitive advantage and that he was not in proper fighting shape at the time.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has also weighed in on the potential welterweight matchups for Haney. While Matchroom is pushing for Catterall to face Haney, Hearn expressed skepticism regarding the chances of IBF welterweight champion Liam Paro, suggesting Paro lacks the power and technical ability to defeat Haney. Hearn’s comments come as Catterall and Paro remain the primary candidates for a bout with Haney.
