Ryan Garcia shifts training focus ahead of Conor Benn fight
Welterweight boxer Ryan Garcia is adopting a new training methodology focused on efficiency and recovery ahead of his September 12 fight against Conor Benn in Las Vegas. The 27-year-old, who holds a 24-2-1 record, is incorporating tools such as red-light therapy, cryotherapy, sauna sessions, and ice baths to manage the physical stress of his camp.
Garcia noted that the short turnaround since his February victory over Mario Barrios has helped him maintain momentum. While his routine still includes significant strength, conditioning, and boxing work, he is emphasizing the need to adjust intensity to avoid burnout.
Garcia is widely recognized for his signature counter left hook, a weapon developed during a prolific amateur career that included a 215-15 record. His ability to use timing and reflexes to land precise counters was notably demonstrated in his 2021 comeback victory against Luke Campbell. Looking ahead, Teofimo Lopez has expressed interest in facing the winner of the Garcia-Benn bout to pursue undisputed status.
