Ryan Giggs reveals Manchester United passed on Kylian Mbappé

Ryan Giggs has revealed that Manchester United had the opportunity to sign Kylian Mbappé during his teenage years at AS Monaco but ultimately decided against it.

In 2015, while serving as an assistant to manager Louis van Gaal, Giggs was approached by a man in southern France who recommended the young prospect. Giggs subsequently shared this information with assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg, and the pair watched several of the player's youth matches. However, the club's scouting department was reportedly “not too sure about him” and passed on the opportunity.

Mbappé later moved from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 before joining Real Madrid.
