Ryan Gold suspended indefinitely by NFL over draft leak allegations

The NFL has issued an indefinite suspension to Ryan Gold, the Arizona Cardinals' scouting director of 13 seasons, following allegations of leaking confidential draft information and participating in parlay betting. The league's decision, announced on July 17, 2026, centers on claims that Gold shared strategic details regarding the 2026 NFL draft before official announcements.

A central point of interest involves the betting odds for running back Jeremiyah Love. In March, odds for Love to be selected third overall were 30-1, but they shifted significantly to approximately 2-1 just two days before the draft. The Cardinals ultimately selected Love with the third overall pick. While DraftKings reported heavy betting volume on Love, Massachusetts regulators stated they received no suspicious integrity reports during the spring.

Gold’s attorney, Mike Caspino, has filed an appeal scheduled for September 23. The defense argues that Gold could not have leaked the picks as only the team owner and general manager were privy to the final decisions. Additionally, the attorney claims the parlay bets in question were small, weekly wagers placed by Gold’s wife, not Gold himself. The NFL stated it found no evidence that any specific games were affected by the betting activity.
