Marvel Studios announces 2028 release slate for X-Men, Ghost Rider and Black Panther III
Disney and Marvel Studios have finalized a major release schedule for 2028, marking a significant year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. The studio plans to release three major films within that year.
The 2028 lineup begins with an untitled X-Men reboot scheduled for May 5, directed by Jake Schreier. The cast includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister.
Following the X-Men film, Ghost Rider is set to premiere on July 28, 2028. Starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, the film marks Gosling’s entry into the MCU. The project was reportedly a personal vision of Gosling’s, which he brought to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
The year will conclude with Black Panther III on December 15, 2028, featuring the return of Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, alongside David Jonsson playing the adult son of T’Challa. This release strategy reflects a shift toward a quality-focused approach rather than a strict annual quota of productions.
