Ryan Harris sets high targets for South Australia cricket
South Australian cricket coach Ryan Harris has set high ambitions for the 2026-27 domestic season, stating that failing to reach a final or secure a trophy would be considered a failure. Following a period of significant success where the team won back-to-back Sheffield Shield titles and a One Day Cup, the squad has been bolstered by the arrivals of Jake Weatherald from Tasmania and Matthew Gilkes from New South Wales.
Harris highlighted the individual development of players such as Mackenzie Harvey and Jake Fraser-McGurk, as well as the progress of rookie Douwtjie Hoogenboezem. Reflecting on previous challenges, Harris noted that the team overcame a slow start to their last Sheffield Shield campaign by addressing group frustration and maintaining high standards of accountability among players and coaching staff.
