Ryan Joyce advances to World Grand Prix quarterfinals

Ryan Joyce advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Grand Prix after securing decisive victories over both Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert. Joyce defeated Noppert 3-0 in sets, utilizing strong finishes to overcome the Dutch player.

In a separate match, Joyce also eliminated Michael van Gerwen in the first round. The loss marks the third consecutive year that Van Gerwen has exited the tournament in the opening round, a trend that has impacted his standing on the PDC Order of Merit. Currently ranked ninth in the world, Van Gerwen is facing a difficult season. Fellow professional Vincent van der Voort noted that while Van Gerwen is showing signs of improvement during training, the recent defeats have been personally difficult for the three-time world champion.
