Ryan Lasko discharged from rehab after spinal injury

Ryan Lasko, a 24-year-old Oakland Athletics minor league prospect, has been discharged from the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation to continue his recovery at home. Lasko has been paralyzed from the chest down since June 30, following a collision with teammate Devin Taylor during a Double-A Midland game in Frisco, Texas.

The collision resulted in fractures to his C6 and C7 cervical vertebrae, requiring immediate surgery for spinal decompression and stabilization. While the injury also affected both arms, specifically weakening his dominant right arm, Lasko has begun to experience tingling sensations and regained some sensitivity in his legs and feet.

Medical professionals and therapists remain optimistic about his potential for a full recovery as he transitions from inpatient care to home-based rehabilitation.
