Ryan Lasko regains leg sensation four weeks after spinal fracture

Oakland Athletics prospect Ryan Lasko suffered a fractured C6‑C7 vertebra on June 30 after colliding with teammate Devin Taylor during a Double‑A game in the Dallas‑Fort Worth area. He underwent spinal surgery that night at a Plano, Texas hospital.

Four weeks later Lasko posted that he now feels sensation from his feet up to his knees, as well as some feeling in his thighs, hamstrings and back. He reports about 75% use of his left hand and roughly 50% use of his right hand. The 24‑year‑old, a second‑round 2023 draft pick from Rutgers, remains a top prospect for the Athletics, currently batting .209 with six homers and 34 RBIs in 73 games.
