Ryan Murphy's thriller series 'The Shards' slated for August debut on FX and Disney+

Ryan Murphy's new 1980s‑set thriller series *The Shards* will launch on FX and Hulu in the United States on 5 August 2026, with a UK debut on Disney+ a day later. The eight‑part drama adapts Bret Easton Ellis’s 2023 novel and follows a group of privileged teens at an elite Los Angeles prep school after the arrival of the enigmatic newcomer Robert Mallory, whose presence coincides with the activities of a local serial killer known as "The Trawler."

The cast includes Igby Rigney as senior student Bret, Homer Gere as Robert Mallory, and newcomers Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Evan Rachel Wood, Wes Bentley and Jordan Roth. International viewers in France can watch the series on Disney+ from 6 August. The show is promoted as a blend of suspense, seduction and obsession, pairing Murphy’s television pedigree with Ellis’s provocative storytelling.
