Ryan Reaves announces retirement from NHL after 16 seasons

NHL enforcer Ryan Reaves has announced his retirement from professional hockey at age 39. Reaves, known for his physical style of play, made the announcement via Instagram, stating, “Unfortunately, Father Time remains undefeated.”

Over a 16-season career that began with the St. Louis Blues in 2010, Reaves played 962 regular-season games and appeared in 113 playoff games. He suited up for several organizations, including the Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights, and most recently, the San Jose Sharks.

Reaves was recognized as one of the league's prominent heavyweights, accumulating over 1,100 penalty minutes and participating in approximately 165 fights. His career statistics include 140 points and a ranking of seventh on the all-time list for hits. His departure leaves only three players in the league who do not wear a visor.
