Newly unsealed court documents have provided further insight into the legal and professional conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni following the production of the film ‘It Ends With Us’.

The documents reveal text messages from August 2024 in which Ryan Reynolds referred to Baldoni as a ‘predator and sociopath’ in communications with author Colleen Hoover. Additionally, messages suggest Reynolds exerted pressure on Sony to publicly support Lively amidst the backlash she faced during the film’s release. Publicist Jennifer Abel noted in communications that Sony’s public stance was a result of Reynolds ‘putting pressure’ on the studio.

The legal battle, which included Lively accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and a smear campaign in December 2024, also involved a $400 million counterclaim by Baldoni for defamation and extortion. While a judge dismissed Baldoni’s counterclaim in June 2025, the parties eventually reached a settlement on May 4, 2026. The unsealed materials also highlight internal studio tensions, including harsh private comments about Lively made by Sony executive Andrea Giannetti.
