Ryan Tubridy expresses interest in entering Irish politics
Former Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy has indicated he is considering a career in politics, expressing fascination with the Fianna Fáil party. Speaking at a Fianna Fáil centenary event in Galway, the 53-year-old noted his deep familial ties to the political sphere, stating, “This bloody politics is coursing through my veins.”
Tubridy mentioned he has “dreamed” of winning back the Galway West seat previously held by his grandfather, Dr. Seán Tubridy. His extended family includes several political figures, such as his cousins Barry Andrews, a Fianna Fáil MEP, and Chris Andrews, a Sinn Féin senator.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin responded to the comments by stating that Tubridy would be “very welcome” to enter politics. Martin noted that while he was unsure of the seriousness of the remarks, he encourages young people to engage in political participation and acknowledged Tubridy’s distinguished family heritage.
