Ryanair announces major seat reductions and route cuts in Germany
Ryanair is implementing significant reductions to its flight capacity in Germany, affecting both its Berlin and Bremen operations.
For the 2026-2027 season, the airline plans to remove 700,000 seats from its German program, a 10% decrease. The cuts are heavily concentrated in Berlin, where the service offering will be halved. The carrier will close its seven-aircraft base at Berlin Brandenburg Airport on October 24. Among the twelve routes being eliminated are connections to Marseille, several Canary Islands destinations (Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote), and various Italian and Baltic cities. Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson has indicated that these reductions may lead to higher ticket prices.
Additionally, Ryanair will end all operations at Bremen Airport by April 2027, resulting in a loss of approximately 500,000 seats annually. This withdrawal will terminate routes connecting Bremen to Alicante, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, and London Stansted. The airline cited high airport charges, taxation, and rising operating costs as the primary drivers for exiting the Bremen market.
