Ryanair faces legal ruling in Vigo and ongoing dispute over Spanish airport fees

A court in Vigo has ordered Ryanair to pay 250 euros to the German platform Flightright GmbH. The ruling follows a claim made on behalf of a passenger regarding a flight delay between Vigo and Barcelona in 2024. Ryanair had contested the claim, alleging that the passenger's signature on the assignment of rights was fraudulent; however, the judge dismissed these suspicions, noting that the passenger had not appeared in court to deny the transaction.

Separately, tensions persist between Ryanair and Spanish authorities regarding airport operating fees. Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente has defended the rates set by Aena, the state-owned airport operator, against Ryanair's complaints of high costs. While Ryanair has been more vocal and radical in its stance—partially withdrawing from regional airports to focus on more lucrative hubs—the broader airline industry association (ALA) is also seeking reductions in airport tariffs through upcoming regulatory documents.
