Ryanair flight from Palma de Mallorca to Bologna delayed 18 hours, 150 passengers stranded

A Ryanair flight scheduled to depart Palma de Mallorca for Bologna at 06:55 was delayed until after midnight, finally taking off at 01:00 and arriving in Bologna two hours later. The 18‑hour hold left about 150 passengers, including families with children and elderly travelers, without clear assistance from either the airport or the airline.

Passenger Giangiuseppe Grassi, a regional official and former travel agent, described the situation as a “ghost flight,” noting that communication was sparse and many travelers received no notice of the revised departure time. Ryanair later attributed the delay to a minor technical problem and subsequent weather disturbances, stating that affected passengers were informed via email, app notifications and were provided with meal vouchers. The airline also arranged a replacement aircraft for the delayed service. Passengers plan to request refunds and apologise from the carrier and the Palma de Mallorca airport.
