Ryanair flight returns to Alicante after nine-hour journey due to storms

A Ryanair flight from Alicante, Spain, to Newquay, UK, ended up returning to its origin point after a nine-hour journey caused by severe weather. The flight, FR-2954, was scheduled as a routine two-hour trip on October 24 but was disrupted by Storm Austen, which brought wind gusts of up to 71 mph to the Southwest of England.

After approaching Newquay at approximately 25,000 feet, pilots determined that landing was too dangerous due to gusty conditions. The Boeing 737 diverted to Dublin, Ireland, where it landed safely. Following a brief stopover in Dublin, the airline attempted to reroute the passengers to Bristol, England. However, high winds prevented arrival at Bristol Airport as well, ultimately forcing the aircraft to return to Alicante.
