Ryanair passenger fined 3,000 euros after overbooking protest in Treviso

A British passenger was fined 3,000 euros after a protest triggered by overbooking at Treviso’s Antonio Canova Airport. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13, during a Ryanair flight bound for Paris-Beauvais.

Upon boarding the aircraft, the man realized his wife had been left behind due to the airline having sold more tickets than available seats. His subsequent protest against the crew blocked boarding operations for other passengers, necessitating the intervention of the Polizia di Frontiera. Two officers boarded the plane and eventually calmed the man, who then proceeded with the flight alone.

The disruption caused the flight to arrive in Paris an hour late and created a ripple effect of delays for other arrivals and departures at the Treviso airport throughout the day. The woman was reportedly provided with accommodation and travel on a subsequent flight to join her husband the following day.
