Ryanair to expand flight operations at Weeze Airport

Ryanair intends to expand its flight operations at Weeze Airport on the Lower Rhine. Marcel Meyer, Ryanair’s DACH Country Manager, announced the expansion following the start of construction on a new arrival terminal at the airport, which is expected to increase capacity and modernize the passenger experience.

A significant opportunity for growth arises from the upcoming temporary closure of Eindhoven Airport due to runway renovations. In 2027, a portion of Ryanair flights currently operating out of Eindhoven will be diverted to Weeze.

Meyer noted that Weeze could benefit long-term from lower aviation taxes in Germany compared to the Netherlands. While some flights will eventually return to Eindhoven, the airline views the transition as a way to potentially reach a long-term target of 3.5 million passengers at Weeze. For comparison, the airport handled 2.2 million passengers last year, with a target of 2.4 million for 2026.
