Ryanair, Turkish Airlines, and Lufthansa to cut capacity in former Yugoslavia

Major airlines Ryanair, Turkish Airlines, and Lufthansa are set to implement significant capacity reductions across the former Yugoslavia markets for the upcoming winter season, which runs from October 25 to March 27.

Ryanair will see the largest decline, cutting 225,092 seats and bringing its total regional capacity below one million. These cuts are largely driven by the termination of operations in Niš and the suspension of Sarajevo flights. Turkish Airlines will reduce its capacity by 75,029 seats, affecting services to Podgorica, Pristina, Skopje, and Zagreb, while also suspending flights to Tivat.

Lufthansa will reduce its capacity by 51,792 seats due to the suspension of Munich-Ljubljana flights and the termination of Frankfurt-Skopje services. In Croatia, Lufthansa will see the largest reduction as its Munich-Zagreb routes are transitioned to Air Dolomiti. In Slovenia, Air Dolomiti will record the largest reduction, while Lufthansa will use larger aircraft to partially offset capacity losses in the region.
