Ryanair updates family seating rules and warns ban on party poppers
Ryanair announced a change to its family seating policy. Adults will now be offered a free seat next to their child after check‑in, with the seats typically allocated toward the rear of the aircraft. Children on the same booking will receive seats beside them at no charge, which the airline described as a minor policy tweak.
The airline also joins other carriers such as TUI, easyJet, British Airways and Jet2 in enforcing a ban on party poppers. Classified as a small explosive, party poppers are prohibited in both hand luggage and checked bags under UK Civil Aviation Authority regulations, and passengers risk having the items seized and experiencing baggage delays.
“Trying to work out the final cost has become incredibly complicated and frustrating,” said Rory Boland, editor of Which? Travel, referring to previous infant‑related charges.
