Rybnik considers purchasing central real estate for urban development

The city of Rybnik is considering the acquisition of a 1.18-hectare property located on Maria Skłodowska-Curie Street in the city center. The site, which previously housed a Biedronka store that has been closed for several months, contains four buildings used for commercial, service, office, and residential purposes.

If the Rybnik City Council approves the resolution, the land will become municipal property. This move aims to provide the city with greater control over urban planning, allowing for the creation of recreational and integration spaces. Specifically, the city intends to better connect the Nacyna river boulevards with the nearby campus area by potentially developing new pedestrian paths.

City officials have stated that the purchase does not automatically terminate the activities of current occupants; businesses and residents in the existing buildings may continue their operations. Because the estimated purchase price exceeds one million PLN, the decision requires a formal vote by the City Council.
