Rybnik designates three trees as nature monuments
In Rybnik, three trees are set to become official nature monuments. This includes two common beeches located in the Maliga forest in Chwałowice and a pedunculate oak situated on Przyjemna Street in Niewiadom Górny.
Following resident reports, dendrological expertise confirmed the trees' significant value due to their large size, age, and healthy condition. The new status will involve official marking and potential maintenance. This decision was coordinated with the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Katowice.
Concurrently, the Rybnik City Council decided to revoke the protected status of a small-leaved lime tree on Janiego Street. The tree, which had been a nature monument since 2006, was completely destroyed after being broken at the base during a storm on June 29.
