Rybnik launches media literacy initiative to combat disinformation

In Rybnik, a new educational initiative titled ‘CTRL + FACT’ has been launched to combat disinformation and teach youth how to navigate new media safely. Funded by over 65,000 PLN from the Ministry of National Education, the project focuses on developing critical thinking through interactive workshops, debates, and RPG sessions rather than traditional lectures.

The program includes practical activities such as a Media Picnic, where participants can consult with psychologists, IT specialists, and lawyers, as well as role-playing exercises where they act as journalists.

Broadly, experts from the NASK Disinformation Analysis Center emphasize the importance of distinguishing between disinformation (false content intended to cause harm), misinformation (unintentional errors), and malinformation (true information used maliciously). These efforts aim to mitigate the social polarization and loss of institutional trust caused by the spread of false content.
