Różyczka Goździewska, the youngest Warsaw Uprising medic, remembered for her bravery

Różyczka Goździewska was born on 31 March 1936 and, at the age of eight, served as a field medic during the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. She worked in the makeshift hospital of the "Koszta" company on Moniuszka Street, handing water to the wounded, driving away flies and bringing smiles to patients. Her father had been killed by the Gestapo in 1943. After the uprising she and her sister moved to Silesia, studied in Gliwice, later emigrated to France, married and had two children before she died.

Her story is highlighted by the Institute of National Remembrance as an example of the extraordinary sacrifice of the youngest participants in the resistance against the German occupation of Poland.
