Ryde and CEVA Logistics suffer cyberattacks resulting in data breaches

Two separate cyberattacks have resulted in significant data breaches affecting various consumer services.

E-scooter provider Ryde confirmed a cyberattack where data from all customer accounts were copied. The breach potentially affects approximately 4.5 million accounts across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Germany. Compromised information includes phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and partial payment card details (the first six and last four digits). While Ryde stated that full card numbers and specific travel histories were not stolen, the company warned of an increased risk of highly credible phishing attempts using the stolen data.

In a separate incident, logistics provider CEVA Logistics suffered a cyberattack between July 29 and August 1. The breach may have exposed customer data used for deliveries, impacting several major companies including ING, Ace & Tate, Ajax Amsterdam, Bol, De Bijenkorf, and potentially Zalando. European customers of Steam hardware via Valve may also be affected. The leaked information primarily concerns names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and order details. Affected companies have begun notifying customers and data protection authorities.
