Ryde community allotment launches inclusive gardening project

The Mayfield Road Community Allotment in Ryde has launched an inclusive gardening project aimed at helping residents grow their own fresh fruit and vegetables. Supported by initial funding from SNG, the initiative is designed to be accessible to all community members, including those with disabilities or mobility issues.

To facilitate participation, the site features a raised planter for easier access and provides support for individuals with impaired vision. Organizers also intend to provide adaptive tools and equipment to ensure inclusivity. The project welcomes both experienced gardeners and beginners, offering a space for residents to learn new skills, connect with neighbors, and spend time outdoors.
