Ryde families displaced by suspected arson fire

A fundraising appeal has been launched to support six families, including children and pensioners, who were displaced by a major fire at Solent House on Garfield Road in Ryde. The blaze, which broke out in a communal stairwell on a Saturday afternoon, caused significant damage and left residents unable to return to their homes.

The Veterans Hub Isle of Wight is providing support and temporary accommodation at The Veteran pub and hotel. The organization has initiated a crowdfunding campaign to assist victims with the costs of food, clothing, and essential items.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is currently investigating the incident as suspected arson, though no arrests have been made as of three days after the fire.
