Ryde Technologies suffers cyberattack affecting 4.5 million accounts

Ryde Technologies, a Norwegian e-scooter rental company, has confirmed a cyberattack that resulted in the unauthorized access and copying of customer data. The breach, discovered between August 2 and August 3, affects approximately 4.5 million accounts across Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Germany.

In Norway alone, the breach impacts roughly 1.6 million accounts, representing nearly 30 percent of the country's population. The company stated that the unauthorized access was halted shortly after detection, though the full extent of the incident is still under investigation.

Potential leaked information includes phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and partial payment card details (the first six and last four digits). For some users, unverified names, addresses, and payment histories for rides and purchases may also have been compromised. Ryde has notified the relevant authorities and affected customers.
